REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Monday, October 27, 2025
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:- Engineers
- Staking Technicians
- Power Line Workers
- Contractors
CLASS SCHEDULE: - Tuesday, November 18, 2025 | 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
- Wednesday, November 19, 2025 | 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

COURSE TOPICS:UNDERGROUND LINE DESIGN AND SUBDIVISION LAYOUT: The components of underground distribution systems, along with their application and limitations, will be discussed. The student will learn how to layout subdivisions, specify pad-mounted equipment, and design sectionalizing systems. This course will also cover conduit systems and the correct methods for calculating pulling tensions relative to conduit bends and cable runs. SIZING TRANSFORMERS AND CONDUCTORS: The seminar will focus on basic electric theory, and the methodology to correctly size transformers and service conductors for standard residential and small commercial loads. The student will learn how to perform basic calculations for current, voltage, power, and voltage drop. BASIC SECTIONALIZING AND LINE EQUIPMENT: The seminar will give the student a basic understanding of fault currents, sectionalizing devices, voltage regulators, and capacitors. The focus of this section will be to teach the staking technician how to apply and locate these devices on the distribution system when the line is being staked. CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS: Accurate accounting of materials and close monitoring of the contractor’s progress are essential to completing a project on time and on budget. The student will learn how the construction contract affects every aspect of the project, how to prepare special conditions and units, and how to administer the contract terms and conditions for a successful outcome. COST:The total cost of the class will
be split amongst each attendee. The total cost includes course fee, course material fees, and the cost of lunches and breaks for each day. (We're estimating the cost will be less than
$1,000 per student.) The more attendees, the lower the cost per student will be. Invoicing will be sent out following the school. ACCOMMODATIONS:Lunch and break refreshments will be provided each day.
The AIEC has negotiated special rates with local hotels. Use this link for information: https://aiec.coop/hotels/ CANCELLATION POLICY:Cancellations made prior to the registration deadline will not be
